The Mechanical Asset Engineer will be responsible for area-based management of the capital and major maintenance programs for a defined area within the mill.  This will be accomplished as part of a natural work team comprised of engineer, operations superintendent, maintenance supervisor, process engineer and other support groups.  The ideal candidate for this existing vacancy will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency and cost targets for the site.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the reliability of mechanical systems and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct failure analysis studies on equipment and develop strategies to reduce downtime.
  • Recommend modifications to extend equipment life or improve performance.
  • Document reliability studies and maintenance operations for future reference.
  • Build positive relationships with operating and maintenance departments.

Your Profile:

  • Candidates must have mechanical engineering degree or diploma.
  • Candidates must have at least three (3) years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and statistical process control.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communicator, insightful, self-aware, and able to listen to employees and integrate feedback into the operations. Strong belief in continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills including planning, prioritizing, and delegating.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office.
  • Candidates must be able to legally work within Canada at the time of applying for the position.

Compensation:

  • This is a salary position in the $80,000 to $100,000 range depending upon experience plus an annual bonus and relocation assistance.
